REGULAR SERVICES

SUNDAY WORSHIP

St Margaret's Parish Church ScotswoodEach Sunday at 9.30am we meet for about an hour to celebrate our shared faith in Jesus.

On all but the first Sunday of the month, the style of our service is fairly traditional, drawing on the rich heritage of the Church of England.  We sing hymns and songs, say prayers, read the Bible and share the bread and wine of Communion

On the first Sunday of each month, we especially welcome newcomers to our Family Service by keeping our time together extra simple and user-friendly. We recommend that you try this service as a first step if you'd like to find out more about what it is to be a Christian.  And always, after our 9.30am service, we join together for a cup of tea or coffee and a chat before going home to make lunch or going out for the day.

What makes St Margaret's different, we think, is not so much the format of an individual service as the warmth of our welcome and the joy and liveliness which fill our worship time together.

MIDWEEK SERVICES

On Thursday mornings at 10am, we hold our midweek Communion Service, after which the 'timeout cafe' opens and all are invited to stay for refreshments.

From Mondays to Thursdays, each evening at 4.30pm, Evening Prayer takes place in church.  This is a simple, short service that reminds us that Christ is for the whole week and not just for Sundays.  It also provides us with an opportunity, between Sundays, to commend matters of special concern to God in prayer.

OCCASIONAL SERVICES

St Margaret's Parish Church ScotswoodBAPTISMS & WEDDINGS   Tea and coffee time on Sundays (at about 10.30am) is also the time that we recommend you first come and talk to our Vicar, Chris Knights, about having your baby or older children baptised or christened in church - or about what happens if you yourself decide that you want to start a new life as a Christian.  It is also the time to begin to explore with Chris choosing the joys of a Christian marriage by having your wedding in church.St Margaret's Parish Church Scotswood

FUNERALS    Today it is most common for our Vicar to be asked by those who wish to have a Christian funeral for a loved one, if he will take the funeral service at the crematorium.  The other alternative is for the main service to take place in church and to be followed by a short ceremony at the crematorium.  Whatever your preference, St Margaret's offers care and comfort in your time of need.

SPECIAL SERVICES  Of course, the Christian year is full of special times to remember God's presence in our lives.  These times are usually marked by special services, such as at Christmas when we celebrate Jesus' birth and at Easter when we remember his death on the Cross on Good Friday and his coming to life again two days later on Easter Day.  On All Souls' Day in November, we remember with thanks before God those of our loved ones who have died and, at Pentecost, we thank God for the gift of his Holy Spirit to us.  And there are many more special days!

WHEN ANY SPECIAL SERVICES ARE COMING UP, DETAILS OF THEM WILL BE LISTED HERE.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PRIVATE PRAYER

The worship area in St Margaret's is a light and airy space with a tangible sense of peace and tranquillity.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 10am and 2pm, it can be accessed via the 'The Soup Bowl' cafe, if you are simply looking for a few moments to ponder, away from the bustle of your midweek routine.
